Here's where you'll learn how to use the program. Be patient because this section is very detailed and has many images to load. File Sniper is a powerful and easy-to-use program, no other commercially available program can do the same job. Every day, File Sniper quickly and professionally deep cleans your computer of 'sensitive material', leaving you with a clean PC, a clean conscience and instant peace of mind. It has unique features like the Panic Button, Block Auto Bookmark and Lock Your Homepage and hot keys to show / hide all browser windows.

During installation, if you get an error stating that File Sniper is not a valid win32 program download the installation file and launch it again. If you still get the error please e-mail support with your your name, date of purchase and customer ID#.

Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP users might need to upgrade some system files to run the program. If you are getting an error message displayed when opening File Sniper, please download this installer file, it will install the missing files. Remember where you save it! After download is done go to where you saved it and click the setup-common.exe file to install the missing files. Then try to start File Sniper again. This should take care of the problem.

To Use Some of these tools you must have File Sniper running. Just click the minimize line in the top right corner and File Sniper's icon will show up in the right hand bottom corner of your monitor (down by where the time is). To view File Sniper again just click that icon or double click if that is how your computer is set up. (If the below instructions say click the same applies. Click once or twice however your windows operating system is set up for)

Main Tab

IE Toolbar Integration
: Add File Sniper to the Toolbar of Internet Explorer. With this enabled you can start File Sniper at any time when you're surfing the net using Internet Explorer. The image below shows where it's located so you can activate File Sniper with ease.

Show / Hide IE Hotkey: Just Click The Windows Start Key (which is between Ctrl and Alt) and Z at the same time. This will hide all your Internet Explorer windows that are open. When you are ready to resume browsing online just click the Windows Start Key and Shift key and Z all at once. It will unhide your Internet Explorer Browser.

Favorites: Automatically prevent your browser from unwanted additions to your Bookmarks. While the program is running it will prevent additions from malicious javascript techniques to add bookmarks to your favorites folder. If you exit File Sniper you will no longer be protected and need to enable again. You can view your favorites folder at anytime by clicking "View Favorites".


Panic Button: This button will immediately close all running instances of Internet Explorer, wipes all the traces selected in the Windows Privacy tab behind the screen silently, and exit File Sniper. So if you need to have history files cleaned then you will have to click the Privacy Tab (explained below) and check the boxes of what you want to be cleaned if you were to hit the panic button. Otherwise it will just close Internet Explorer and then shut itself down. An easy way to use the Panic Button is the click the File Sniper button in Internet Explorer then click "Panic". Here's how you create the hidden button...

File Sniper with IE Toolbar Integration: You can also add a hidden button to Internet Explorer to launch File Sniper. Here's the step by step directions. First, as shown above, you'll need to click "Add to Internet Explorer." Then go to Internet Explorer and click "View" then "Toolbars" then click "Customize."

You'll then have a screen with available toolbar buttons you can add to the top of IE. Highlight File Sniper then click Add. File Sniper should then appear on the right under Current Toolbar Buttons. Once finished, click Close.

Now File Sniper is integrated into your IE toolbar. You will see a tooltip by hovering your cursor over the toolbar. Click the button and File Sniper will launch. You can then click the Panic Button to run all processes and close all instances of Internet Explorer.

Windows Privacy Tab
Just click each box and a check mark appears. At any time Click Erase Selected Items or you can Select more items to clean.

Erase Popular folders: This section deletes the popular windows shell folders where all the temporary data is stored. It deletes the following: Recent Document List , Recent Items From Run Menu, Temp Folder, Recycle Bin, Find Files History, Find Computers History and Map Network Drives History.

Erase Applications Recent Lists: This section deletes recent files history from the Registry and also from the recently accesses files list from the following applications: WinZip, WordPad, Paint, Windows Media Player, and misc recent file menu.

Erase Internet Explorer: Disable AutoComplete, Erase Internet Explorer History, Typed Web Address, Internet Explorer History (and index.dat), Cookies, Google Toolbar Hisotry. Just click each item you want to erase. Then click Erase selected Items. Index.dat is needed to run Internet Explorer. What will happen is it will be purged when you reboot and start with a fresh file. Just click each box and then click Erase Selected Items when you're ready to delete the files.

Select All: Click this button to select (check will appear in all boxes) everything to be cleaned. If you don't want to reboot just uncheck index.dat and then click Shred Selected Items.

Deselect All: Click this button to unselect (uncheck) any selected items.

Erase Selected Items: Click this button to clean all items you have selected in the Erase Popular folders, Erase Applications Recent Lists, and Erase Internet Explorer.

Internet Explorer Tab

Internet Explorer Home Page: Type in any website you would like to come up when you first use Internet Explorer then click Set. Default shows your current Home Page. If you would like Internet Explorer to open without a website coming up then click the Use Blank button.

Internet Explorer Cache Management: When you click Get Cache it will show everything in the Internet Explorer Cache. You can pick and choose what you want to delete. Just click a link and then click Delete Selected. If you would like to delete cookies just click Delete Cookies. Or you can Delete All by clicking the Delete All Button.
